Freshmen hope to find community during sorority recruitment

Eager freshmen students gather to anticipate joining a new sisterhood–in Greek life at Ohio Wesleyan University.

Emotions are running high, as first-year students are excited, nervous, and unsure about what to expect with the sorority recruitment process.

This process involves potential new members completing four days of recruitment with various sorority houses on campus, hoping to find their new home.

Freshman potential new member Kaia Vorenkamp said she is going to try to enjoy and trust the process.

“I am a little nervous, there is so much information and I know that this process will be a lot. I am just anxious and I want to know where I am gonna end up, so I am just going to embrace the process throughout the weekend.”

Vorenkamp loved the idea of getting to meet people with similar interests, aspirations, and values, and ultimately being a part of something bigger than herself within a sisterhood.

Natalie Dieball, another first-year student going through recruitment, is simply trusting the process.

“After day one, I was a lot more excited than anxious. I know that I will end up where I need to be, and I have met a lot of great people within the process”.

The recruitment process at Ohio Wesleyan allows all students to make many new friends, connections, and memories. Emotions are running high during this time, but students trust the process and find their new “homes” through Greek life.
