Ski Club Continues Tradition on Campus

Day trips to Snow Trails spent with fellow OWU students out in the snow, as well as five day trips to Holiday Valley in Upstate New York are a few of the opportunities any Ohio Wesleyan student has access to through the ski club.

Ohio Wesleyan has had a history of skiing and snowboarding clubs but the current club is run by junior Zack Spira. The ski club works to not only provide a group for people with a passion for the sport but also to introduce new people to something they may have never had access to in the past.

Both skiing and snowboarding can be very expensive, so the ski club works to bring any student who wishes to try this winter sport a chance by covering expenses for its members thanks to funding from the WCSA.

Many clubs around OWU have been hurt by a lack of participation in recent years. Luckily, that is not the case for the ski club, which has over 150 members and is currently planning trips for next winter.

Spira encourages members to join “If you ever wanted to try skiing and snowboarding or you already love the sport, join the club. All you have to do is get on the bus, and before you know it, you're on the slopes! We do all the hard work for you.”

Spira also encourages OWU students to check out other clubs by going to events like the club fair each semester.
